Book Particle Twirl

Live looped vocal downtempo

In the style of an Ecstatic Dance Wave, Juc weaves their voice, percussive elements and electronic basslines into intense, looped soundscapes. The result is a full dose of spherical vocal downtempo that takes you from standstill to sweaty euphoric catharsis.

Who needs Synthies anyway?

Since Juc only plays kick drum and bass from the computer and improvises everything else with their voice and percussion elements, every Particle Twirl sounds a little different: pads, percussion, snare drum, lead vocals, pitched rap parts, ethereal classical singing all emerge in real time. They also use a kazoo for improvisations and curious objects like a jingling bangle as percussion.

One special feature of Particle Twirl ist the ever-increasing speed: Particle Twirl starts with a spherical soundscape without drums and, over the course of 1.5 hours, pulls the dancers up to 125 BPM. The Ecstatic Dance wave meditations they attended during the pandemic as a substitute for clubbing revealed to them the magic created by playing with tempo within a DJ or live set. Since then, they think about emotional tension arcs in an entirely new way.

About Juc

Juc [pronounced Yoots] loves and appreciates electronic music for its structure and the possibility of breaking with it. Between atmospheric soundscapes and their voice – sometimes classical, sometimes modern they build arcs of tension that wait to release into an endorphin-fueled catharsis. Concerts with Juc oscillate between extremely danceable and the urge to lie down on the floor and just take it all in with your eyes closed.

Juc’s influences range from Moderat, Polynation, and Trentemøller to Fever Ray. Their first album, Electronic Symphony No. 1, f-minor: Existential Dread, was released in 2023 on Bandcamp and all streaming platforms, where other releases can also be found.

They also work as a composer for video games, performances and other projects. As an Ableton Live teacher, they give workshops both privately and for various music associations and initiatives — many of them exclusively for FLINTA* (Female, Lesbian, Inter, Non-Binary, Trans, Agender) people.
